Consultant Ecologist:
At this level, you will have:
- 2-4 years’ experience in ecological consultancy;
- Full, clean driving licence and access to own car, insured for business use;
- Competent with IT such as Microsoft Word, Dropbox, QGIS, bat sound analysis software etc as needed for your role;
- Demonstrable experience and confidence in at least two of the following: Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRAs) and/or Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) using Phase 1/UKHabs; dusk emergence and transect/static detector surveys for bats; planning condition reports, CEMPs and LEMPs and Green Infrastructure Statements; mitigation plans and drafting simple EPS licence applications including Method Statements and Licence Amendments;
- An interest in learning about other UK protected wildlife species and/or botanical and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) work;
- Newly qualified or close to obtaining your NRW and/or NE Level 1 bat survey licence(s), and experience acting as an accredited agent;
- Strong report-writing skills, with excellent attention to detail. You will have access to an extensive library of report templates and other resources to assist you, but will still need excellent proof-reading skills and a commitment to providing our clients with high quality work;
- Confident, clear, friendly and proactive communication with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders;
- Familiarity with best practice guidance, g. survey methodologies and mitigation measures for a range of species and scenarios;
- Willingness to seek and offer support, taking initiative to follow up on things where needed to avoid delays and ensure projects run smoothly;
- Engaged mindset and willingness to offer ideas to solve problems and improve company processes;
- A keen interest and passion for ecology, g. extra-curricular involvement in local wildlife and bat groups, voluntary experience in bat care et cetera are especially desirable.
Salary is £26-34K dependent on experience.
