Bat Social Calls Course

Bat Social Calls Evening Course 21st November 2018

Bats calls can broadly be separated into echolocation calls and bat social calls. Bat echolocation calls are used for navigation and foraging, whereas social calls are used to communicate to each other. The social calls of bats is an area of current research.

The Bat Social Calls Evening Course will provide an introduction to bat social calls – why bats use social calls, different types of social calls, and identification of bats based on social calls. There will then a chance to try out your identification skills looking at bat social calls using a examples from a range of sound analysis software (Bat Explorer, Bat Sound and AnalookW). This course will be run by our expert, Erika Dahlberg.
