At Acer Ecology, our licensed ecologists have carried out extended Phase 1 habitat surveys in Newport and the nearby area.
An extended Phase 1 habitat survey can have a number of different names, such as:
Preliminary Ecological Appraisal(s)
Baseline Ecological Survey
Ecological Constraints Survey
Ecological Site Assessment
Ecological Site Appraisal
Ecological Scoping Survey
Ecological Site Walkover Survey
What is an Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey?
The site’s features and habitats which may constrain development are assessed in this survey. The potential of these features and habitats to support protected species is then evaluated. No further surveys may be needed if the site is assessed as having a low wildlife interest; however, if necessary, clients are advised to undertake more detailed specialist surveys.
A data trawl is usually undertaken in conjunction with the survey, whereby information about the site and its context are obtained from organisations such as Local Biodiversity Record Centres. This includes information on protected and Biodiversity Action Plan Priority Species and the presence of nearby statutory protected areas.
Acer Ecology, our licensed ecologists have carried out extended Phase 1 habitat surveys in and around the Swindon area including Wroughton, Wanborough, South Marston and Common Platt.
Our Cardiff office makes us well placed to conduct ecological work in the surrounding counties of Cardiff, Caerphilly, Torfaen, and Monmouthshire.
