Acer Ecology was commissioned to carry out a bat survey of a building off Chepstow Road, near Langstone, within the Newport City Council district, South Wales.
Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Therefore, you may be asked to undertake a bat survey.
The objective of a bat survey is to:
- Establish the presence/ likely absence of the bat roosts within buildings and trees;
- Identify the bat activity across the site including key commuting and foraging routes;
- Recommend appropriate ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.
Identifying ecological constraints early in the planning process has proven to be both cost-effective and time-saving in the long run.
Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveying, European Protected Species licensing, and mitigation design and implementation. We are able to take on projects across Newport City Council District, including Bassaleg, Rogerstone, Goldcliff, Bishton, and Underwood. We also have the capacity to undertake projects throughout South Wales.
