invertebrate survey

We were recently commissioned to conduct an invertebrate survey for a site in Cardiff, South Wales.

The survey involved a number of different survey techniques including direct searching, sweep netting, beating, sieving, suction sampling, pitfall trapping, deadwood searching and light trapping for night-flying insects.

Several species of invertebrates are listed as Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) species, therefore planning authorities expect these species to be considered in ecological impact assessments.

Our ecologists can undertake both terrestrial and aquatic invertebrate surveys either to inform development proposals or as part of habitat management plans.

We have undertaken insect and invertebrate surveys across South Wales including surveys in Cardiff, Bridgend, Monmouth, Newport, Swansea, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Neath Port Talbot, Torfaen, and Blaenau Gwent.
