Does your planning application need a bat survey?

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017, bats and their roosts are fully protected in the UK. Your local planning authority may ask you to have a bat survey done as a result of this legislation.

A bat survey will establish the presence or likely absence of bat roosts within trees and buildings, and identify bat activity (including key commuting and foraging routes).
