Acer Ecology was commissioned to carry out a bat survey of a site in West Aberthaw, near St Athan, South Wales.
Our bat survey specialists have undertaken numerous surveys of bats in the Vale of Glamorgan including sites in St Athan, Penmark, Wick, Wenvoe, Rhoose Michaelston, Ogmore, and Pendoylan.
Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. As such, you may be asked by your local authority to undertake a survey for bats.
The objective of a bat survey is to:
- Establish the presence/ likely absence of the bat roosts within trees and buildings;
- Identify the activity of bats across the site and key commuting and foraging routes; and
- Recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.
Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveying, European Protected Species licensing, and mitigation design and implementation.
