Acer Ecology is an experienced and expanding ecological consultancy specialising in bat surveys. If part of your planning application requires a bat survey then we can help ensure that your development passes smoothly through this process.
We recently carried out a bat survey at a farm near Okehampton.
Our fully licensed ecologists undertook a combination of dusk emergence, dawn re-entry and transect surveys across the farm site. No bats were recorded using the buildings during the survey, and the project progressed smoothly through the planning process.
Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Therefore, a local planning authority may ask you to undertake a survey for bats. The objective of a bat survey is to: Establish the presence or likely absence of the bat roosts within trees and buildings; Identify the activity of bats across the site and key commuting and foraging routes; and Recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required. Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveying, European Protected Species licensing, mitigation design and implementation and supervision of works.
We have the capacity to undertake bat surveys in Okehampton and the surrounding areas, including Chagford, Launceston, Holsworthy, Bideford and Tavistock. We regularly undertake bat surveys in the Devon area and are able to provide a competitive quote to potential clients on a case-by-case basis.
