Our fully licensed ecologists recently undertook a bat survey of an old industrial building along the coast from Minehead in Somerset. The structure was considered to provide suitable hibernation conditions for bats, and appropriate surveys were recommended to ensure that the project proceeded through the planning process in a manner that was satisfactory to our client.

Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017.
The objective of a bat survey is to: establish the presence or likely absence of the bat roosts within trees and buildings; identify the activity of bats across the site; and identify key commuting and foraging routes. Our expert ecologists will then recommend appropriate ecological mitigation and enhancement where it is required. Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveying, European Protected Species licensing, mitigation design and implementation, and supervision of works.
