bat survey maesteg

We were commissioned to carry out a bat survey of a site in Llangynwyd, near Maesteg, South Wales.  The former chapel was proposed for conversion to form a residential dwelling.

Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Therefore, you may be asked to undertake a survey for bats by your local authority. The objective of a bat survey is to:

  • Establish the presence / likely absence of the bat roosts within trees and buildings;
  • Identify the activity of bats across the site and key commuting and foraging routes; and
  • Recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.

Our fully licensed ecologists are experienced in bat surveying, European Protected Species licensing, mitigation design and implementation, and supervision of works.

Acer Ecology undertakes projects all over the UK. From our Cardiff office, we are able to serve South Wales (Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Newport, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea, Torfaen), Mid Wales (Powys), West Wales (Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion), South West England (Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Devon, Dorset and Somerset) and the West Midlands (Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Shropshire).
