Acer Ecology were commissioned to carry out a bat survey of Dinas Powys Tennis Club, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. The survey was undertaken to assess the installation of new floodlights on a adjacent mature hedgerow.
Recommendations were given so that the new floodlights were designed in a sensitive manner which met the needs of the tennis club but also minimised light spill towards the hedgerow, thereby limiting any impact on commuting and foraging bats.

Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Local planning authorities sometimes ask for a bat survey to be undertaken as a result of this.
