Acer Ecology has undertaken numerous surveys of buildings in Caerphilly, South Wales proposed for conversion for residential use. This includes bat surveys of sites in Caerphilly County Borough including Aberbargoed, Abercarn, Bargoed, Bedwas, Blackwood, Caerphilly, Crumlin, Gelligaer, Newbridge, Rhymney, Risca, Senghenydd and Ystrad Mynach.
Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Therefore, your local planning authority may ask you to undertake a survey for bats.
The purpose of a bat survey is to:
-
- Establish the presence / likely absence of bat roosts within buildings and trees;
-
-
- Identify the activity of bats across the site plus key commuting and foraging routes; and
- Recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.
-
Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveys, European Protected Species licensing, and mitigation design and implementation.
