A former aircraft carrier in Llandow in the Vale of Glamorgan used by long-eared bats was proposed for conversion for manufacturing use. Modifications to the former boiler house were made to prevent unauthorised access, limit lighting impacts and provide more stable internal conditions.
In addition, a ‘hot box’ and ‘cool tower’ were installed to generate micro-climates and increase roosting and hibernating opportunities.
Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Therefore, you may be asked to undertake a bat survey. Our ecologists are experienced in surveying for bats, European Protected Species licensing, and mitigation design and implementation.
Our bat survey specialists have undertaken numerous surveys of bats across the Vale of Glamorgan including sites in Llandow, Peterston-super-Ely, and St Brides Major.
