Barn Owl Survey Somerset

Barn owls are highly protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. In fact, nearly all birds their nests and eggs are protected under UK law and some especially rare species are given enhanced protection from disturbance during the breeding season.

It is important to establish the presence of birds on a development site before the planning process begins in order to appropriately mitigate and compensate for them. Furthermore, this will help your project to fly smoothly through the planning process.

At Acer Ecology, we have carried out a numerous Barn owl surveys and a wide range of other bird surveys in and around Somerset including:

  • Vantage Point Survey for Wind Turbine Developments;
  • Breeding Bird Surveys;
  • Winter Bird Surveys;
  • Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS);
  • Common Bird Census (CBC) surveys; and
  • Moorland Surveys using the ‘Brown and Shepherd’ methodology and species-specific surveys

We have capacity to carry out bird surveys in the surrounding areas of Somerset: Bath, Glastonbury, Taunton, Yeovil, Minehead, Western-super Mare, Frome, Crewkerne, Wells and Templecombe. Acer Ecology are well placed to carry out surveys in the surrounding and nearby counties, such as Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Bristol and north-east Somerset.
