On 1st April 2013, Natural Resources Wales became operational when it took over the functions previously carried out by the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and Forestry Commission Wales (FCW), the devolved functions of Environment Agency Wales (EAW) and assumes some functions previously taken by the Welsh Government (WG).
All protected species licences previously issued by the WG and CCW under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the Conservation of Habitats and Species (Amended) Regulations 2012 will now be issued by Natural Resources Wales.
The creation of one new body could streamline services and make the regulatory process more straightforward for both us and our clients.
