Acer Ecology recently carried out an extended Phase 1 habitat survey at a site proposed for residential development near Taunton. Very few ecological constraints were identified on site, although the rank grassland and hedgerow interfaces were considered to have potential for use by reptiles. Targeted reptile surveys were undertaken, which showed that the site supported a low population of slow worms. Appropriate mitigation measures were subsequently implemented to ensure that the project progressed through the planning process without delay.
