Acer Ecology regularly carries out ecological surveys in the areas surrounding Glastonbury, including Shepton Mallet, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare and Wells.
We recently carried out a preliminary ecological appraisal at a site proposed for development to the south of Glastonbury. Few ecological constraints were identified during the survey, although there was considered to be a good scope to enhance the ecological value of the site following construction works. The project progressed in a smooth and timely manner through planning.
Our fully licensed ecologists are proficient in undertaking a range of ecological services, including:
- Preliminary ecological appraisals (Extended Phase 1 habitat surveys)
- Protected species surveys (plants, bats, badgers, great crested newt, otter, water vole, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, white-clawed crayfish etc.)
- European protected species licence applications
- Acting as Suitably Qualified Ecologists (SQE) in Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM Ecology Assessments
- Landscape architecture and design
- Ecological Impact Assessments(EcIA)
- Specialist vegetation surveys including National Vegetation Classification surveys and hedgerow surveys;
- Tree surveys (BS5837)
