Bat Survey Torfaen

Acer Ecology has been commissioned to undertake numerous bat surveys in Torfaen, South Wales. This includes bat surveys of sites in Abersychan, Pontypool, Blaenavon, Cwmbran, Cwmavon, Griffithstown, Llantarnam, Llanvihangel, Mamhilad, Panteg, Pontnewydd, and Varteg.

Bats and Planning Applications

Bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Local planning authorities may as you to undertake a bat survey as a result of this.

Bat surveys aim to:

  • establish the presence / likely absence of the bat roosts within trees and buildings,
  • identify the activity of bats across the site and key commuting and foraging routes; and
  • recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.

If part of your planning application requires a bat survey, we can help ensure that your development passes smoothly through this process. Our ecologists are experienced in bat survey, European Protected Species licensing, and mitigation design and implementation.
