We were commissioned to carry out a bat survey of a building in Skewen, Neath Port Talbot. The building was proposed for conversion to provide living accommodation.
Under the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 and the Wildlife and Countryside Act, bats and their roosts are fully protected. As such, your local planning authority may ask you to undertake a survey for bats.
The purpose of a bat survey is to:
Establish the presence / likely absence of bat roosts within buildings and trees;
Identify the activity of bats across the site plus key commuting and foraging routes; and
Recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.
Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveying, European Protected Species licensing, and mitigation design and implementation. We regularly cover Neath Port Talbot, from Pontardawe to Abergynfi, and Dyffryn Cellwen to Port Talbot.
Identifying ecological constraints early during the planning process can save you both time and money.
