Our fully licensed ecologists recently carried out a bat survey of a tree that was proposed for felling. Although no evidence of bats was recorded on the tree, several potential bat roost features were recorded and a further survey was therefore recommended in order to avoid timely and costly delays later on in the planning process.
If part of your planning application requires a bat survey, then we can help ensure that your development passes smoothly through this process.
The objective of a bat survey is to:
- Establish the presence / likely absence of the bat roosts within trees and buildings;
- Identify the activity of bats across the site and key commuting and foraging routes; and
- Recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.
Bat surveys may be required by a local planning authority because bats and their roosts are fully protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017.
We are experienced and an expanding ecological consultancy, specialising in bat surveys. Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveying, European Protected Species licensing, mitigation design and implementation and supervision of works. We’re able to carry out surveys in and around Newton Abbot, such as in Abbotskerswell, Kingsteignton, Chudleigh, Coffinswell, Coldeast, Paignton and Torquay. We regularly undertake bat surveys in Devon and are able to provide a competitive quote to potential clients on a case by case basis.
