London

We are an experienced ecology consultancy firm, specialising in bat surveys.  We can help your development proceed without any unexpected issues and can help you understand the process of commissioning bat surveys.

Acer Ecology’s fully licensed ecologists are well placed to serve all of the London boroughs, including the City of London, Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Bexley, Brent, Bromley, Camden, Croydon, Ealing, Enfield, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Redbridge, Richmond upon Thames, Southwark, Sutton, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Wandsworth and Westminster.

The objective of a bat survey is to:

  • Establish the presence / likely absence of the bat roosts within trees and buildings;
  • Identify the activity of bats across the site and key commuting and foraging routes; and
  • Recommend ecological mitigation and enhancement where required.

A bat survey may be required by your local planning authority because all bats and their roosts in the UK are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. Our ecologists are experienced in bat surveys, European Protected Species licensing, mitigation design and implementation and supervision of works.
