Protected Species Survey

Is your planning application in need of a bat survey? Acer Ecology can provide this service at a high quality and competitive rate. Our professional ecologists have years’ worth of experience in conducting preliminary roost assessments, bat emergence/re-entry surveys, impact assessments, mitigation design and implementation. We can help your application run as smoothly as possible by ensuring you are able to get planning permission and if required, we can assist in preparing the requisite licence documents, whilst working to protect bats and their roosting sites.

Your local authority may state that in order for you application to proceed, a preliminary roost assessment must be undertaken on the property. Following the preliminary survey, if the property is assessed as being suitable to support roosting bats, further surveys are recommended which take place between May and September, when bats are active and can be recorded emerging from or re-entering their roosts. Should bats be found using the property, if impacts to the bats or their roosts cannot be avoided, a European Species Licence is required from Natural England in order for the project to lawfully proceed. For more information about bat surveys or any of our other ecological services, please contact Acer Ecology at our head office on 02920 650 331 or email enquiries@acerecology.co.uk.

Acer Ecology provide all stages of this process, from the preliminary assessment to the licence application, and have done so in Ponteland and the surrounding areas such as Woolsington, Medburn, Callerton, Eachwick, Belsay and Horton Grange.
