Tree Identification Course 16th May 2017

Course content:

The course will help you to learn about the principles of tree identification in summer and put them into practice around some of the sites in Cardiff Bay. Participants will be taught some key characteristics used when identifying trees and shrubs. Emphasis will be placed on the main features that differentiate similar looking species.

First information will be given about the morphology and terminology. Then we will looked into how to differentiate similar looking commonly encountered species. The acquired knowledge will be practiced on different sites in Cardiff Bay.

Participants will gain skills and experience in:

  • Tree morphology and terminology
  • Species identification
  • How to differentiate similar looking species

Items to bring:

  • Appropriate footwear and clothing for outdoors.
  • Notepad/writing equipment (optional).

Course Booking

  • The course costs £10.00 per person inclusive of VAT.
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
  • The course will be partly field based and so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
  • All attendees will be issued with a certificate of attendance.
  • The course will run from 6.00pm until 9.00pm.
  • The course will be held at our office in Cardiff Bay
