Bat Survey Methods Course – 9th August

This course will provide an introduction to survey methods used for bats and is aimed at the beginner and the amateur looking to expand their knowledge. The course will cover health and safety considerations, equipment, preliminary roost assessments, bat activity surveys (such as transect surveys and dusk emergence/dawn re-entry surveys). This evening course will be held at Acer Ecology’s office in Cardiff Bay, with the potential go out into Cardiff bay area to look at roosting potential of nearby buildings. The course will run from 6pm to 9pm and costs £40 inclusive of VAT.

The course will cover:

  • health and safety working in old buildings;
  • equipment needed to undertake bat surveys, such as bat detectors and endoscopes;
  • preliminary roost assessments;
  • bat transect surveys;
  • bat dusk emergence and dawn re-entry surveys; and

There is potential to go out into the Cardiff Bay area and practice assessing roosting potential of buildings.

Course Booking

  • The course costs £40 per person inclusive of VAT.
  • The course will be partly field based and so please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
  • All attendees will be issued with a certificate of attendance.
  • The course will run from 6pm to 9pm.
  • The course will be held at Acer Ecology’s office in Cardiff Bay.
